The United Kingdom will provide Ukraine with an additional package of economic and military support totaling £10 billion (approximately $13 billion). This was announced on October 28 by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following a conversation with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
"Today, the UK made an important decision to provide an additional £10 billion in financial assistance: £7 billion in economic aid over the next three years, and another £3 billion in British export support," Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to the British Treasury’s website, £7 billion in economic assistance will be made available to Ukraine over the course of three years. This sum includes guarantees of up to £5.5 billion for the World Bank, as well as £500 million in grant funding for the international financial institution’s crisis-response mechanisms.
An additional £3 billion is being provided through an increase in the financing limits of UK Export Finance (UKEF). A key priority will be supporting the supply of military equipment to Ukraine. This brings the total volume of export financing available for Ukrainian projects to £6.5 billion.
The new package also includes an additional £500 million to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses ahead of the coming winter. The British government emphasized that this announced aid is in addition to its existing commitment to provide £3 billion to Ukraine annually.
