U.S. President Donald Trump intends to make active use of his veto power should the Democratic Party secure a majority in either chamber of Congress following next week’s midterm elections.
The American leader expressed his readiness to become "Mr. Veto" in an appearance on the New York Post’s Pod Force One podcast, excerpts of which were aired by Fox News."If that happens, I guess I’ll be 'Mr. Veto.' I won’t let them get a foothold, and then, presumably, we’ll make some deals," the president emphasized.
Trump explained that blocking his opponents' initiatives would serve as a tool for political leverage. He stated that once the Democrats' bills have been vetoed, and, in a month or two, have "ended up in the trash", he intends to bring lawmakers together to discuss new terms and reach agreements.
