Multiple civilian flights were diverted across Europe on November 5 following a wave of bomb threats. According to Reuters, at least 27 aircraft were affected.
More than a dozen of these flights, originating from Copenhagen, Dublin, Helsinki, Madrid, Milan, and Warsaw, received alerts regarding explosives. Many were forced to divert to alternative airports to make emergency landings, while some were able to land safely at their intended destinations.
So far, inspections have uncovered no hazardous or suspicious materials. No country has attributed responsibility for the threats to any other nation.
Emails containing bomb threats against Italian flights were sent by the radical ultranationalist movement "Masculine State"*, reported the news outlet Adnkronos.
According to the agency, some of these emails, written in Italian and signed by "Fighters of the Masculine State", warned of explosives on certain flights. As a result, a plane en route from Helsinki to Rome landed safely, though escorted by Eurofighter fighter jets, while another, traveling from Dublin to Rome, made an emergency landing in France.
