Provocative message to Ireland from a radical minister in Netanyahu's government over its support for Palestine

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir reacted with sarcasm to Ireland's repeated criticisms and its support for the Palestinian cause.

"If Ireland is so keen on lecturing us on morality and helping the people of Gaza, let it take them in and bring them over," the official stated on a local television channel.

Since the escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Irish government has demonstrated its support for Palestine: it officially recognized the Palestinian state and joined the genocide case filed by South Africa against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

  •  In recent days, tensions have also spilled over into the sporting arena following the controversy surrounding the UEFA Nations League matchups between the two countries.

The first match, held on September 27 in Debrecen (Hungary), took place amidst intense controversy, featuring calls for a boycott in Ireland and gestures of protest by Irish players. The second match, originally scheduled to be played in Ireland, will instead take place in Serbia this coming Sunday.
