US President Donald Trump posted a map on his social media platform, Truth Social, showing Iceland as part of the United States.
In addition to Iceland, the image depicts Greenland, Canada, Mexico, all of Central America, and the Caribbean nations as part of the US. They are all colored in the hues of the American flag.
Trump himself did not add a caption to the posted image.
Following this, Iceland’s Foreign Minister, Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir, summoned the US Ambassador, Billy Long, to the Foreign Ministry.
"It was clearly stated at the meeting that this publication was completely inappropriate," the Icelandic Foreign Ministry said.
