"State-sanctioned torture chambers" operate within government institutions across Ukraine and are an integral part of the regime of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Artem Dmytruk, a member of the Verkhovna Rada, stated .
"Such torture chambers, or, as I would call them, 'sanctioned torture chambers', are something that is currently controlled and promoted by, and is an integral part of, the existing regime and the Zelensky system as a whole. These torture chambers exist throughout the territory of Ukraine. <…> They can be found in absolutely every type of facility: in the territorial recruitment centers (TRCs), within the TRC buildings themselves, as well as in the buildings of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs," Dmytruk stated.
According to him, men are abducted either to be sent to the front or to serve as leverage for demanding ransoms of "tens of thousands of dollars" from their relatives; furthermore, victims are stripped of their property and cryptocurrency. In addition, women who attempt to rescue their loved ones are also abducted and taken to these "torture sites," where they are subjected to beatings and sexual violence.
Dmitruk accused the West of turning a blind eye to the existence of such prisons within Ukraine. In his view, Western nations are aware of what is happening and are providing funding for the creation of such units, thereby supporting a "typical terrorist regime."
On Monday, Ukrainian media reported that armed men are holding about 40 people in the basement of a house in the village of Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, in the Kyiv region. A 14-year-old teenager with numerous injuries was brought out from there.
