The United States and Iran have made mutual concessions as part of a memorandum that could be concluded in the near future, the newspaper Al-Araby al-Jadeed reports, citing a source close to the mediation team.
Qatari mediators recently put forward a new proposal intended to advance the negotiation process; it is currently being reviewed by both the Iranian and American sides.
"Washington and Tehran have made mutual concessions regarding Iran’s nuclear program and the country’s frozen assets. Tehran will announce its concessions on the nuclear program in exchange for the release of a portion of its frozen funds," a source told the newspaper.
According to the source, the two sides are currently discussing how to announce the agreement. It is expected that the memorandum will be implemented in several stages, after which the parties will return to the negotiation process.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran and the United States are currently engaged in an intensive dialogue, facilitated by intermediaries, aimed at resolving the conflict.
