The U.S. Democratic Party will secure a majority in the Senate following the midterm congressional elections, clinching at least 51 seats in the upper chamber, according to a forecast by Bloomberg.
On the seat-distribution map published by the agency, the Democrats reached the 51-seat threshold required for an outright majority in the 100-member Senate.
Before the election, the Republicans controlled the Senate, holding 53 seats compared to the 47 held by Democrats and independents who caucus with them. To secure a majority, the Democrats needed to flip at least four seats from the Republicans, while retaining all of their own.
US President Donald Trump says he will accept the results of the US midterm elections.
“I am absolutely willing to accept those results,” he said in an interview with The New York Times newspaper on Tuesday night.
“We will work with the Democrats, and we will, you know, look forward to working with them. We’ll probably work something out,” he added.

El presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, ha afirmado en una entrevista con dos periodistas de The New York Times que aceptará los resultados de las elecciones legislativas de medio mandato celebradas en su país este martes 3 de noviembre y que está dispuesto a trabajar con los demócratas.
ReplyDeleteEstas declaraciones se produjeron por la noche, poco después de que comenzaran a cerrarse los primeros centros de votación. "Estoy absolutamente dispuesto a aceptar esos resultados", aseguró Trump al ser consultado sobre el desenlace de los comicios.
También manifestó su disposición a cooperar con la oposición: "Trabajaremos con los demócratas y, ya saben, esperamos poder trabajar con ellos. Probablemente llegaremos a algún acuerdo".
