U.S. President Donald Trump stated this Thursday that if any kind of peace agreement is reached regarding the conflict in Ukraine, it will not be with the current leader of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"I think that if they end up reaching some kind of agreement, it won't be with him. He doesn't want to reach an agreement. He says he wants to negotiate, but that’s not the case," he asserted in an interview with Newsmax.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the head of the Ukrainian regime "is not a good guy to deal with." "I’m not a big fan of Zelenskyy. They have destroyed that country," he stated.
Trump declared that Ukraine will not achieve peace under its current leadership. "He says he wants to reach an agreement, but that’s not the case," he asserted.
For this reason, he once again called for elections to be held in Ukraine, arguing that Zelensky has been in power for "a long time" and that "it is time" for a change "if they want to resolve [the conflict]."
Although the American president believes that the conflict "should end soon", and is of the opinion that both Vladimir Putin and Zelensky would like to bring the crisis to a close, he admitted that he finds it "more difficult to deal" with the Ukrainian leader than with his Russian counterpart.
