Vladimir Putin is prepared to order a halt to strikes on Ukraine on election day, should Kyiv decide to hold elections, Dmitry Peskov stated.
At the same time, the presidential press secretary emphasized that the 60-day truce demanded by Zelenskyy is not needed for holding elections, but rather to "regroup, heal wounds, and continue the war."
"We do not need a truce; we need a lasting peace for many generations to come. That is the first point. And here, of course, it is appropriate to recall that the Russian side was ready, and openly stated so immediately after the elections, to continue peace negotiations; specifically, right after the State Duma elections....
....But what did Ukraine do? Ukraine launched unprecedentedly massive strikes against Moscow. Ukraine attempted to disrupt those elections. Ukraine bombed polling stations. Ukraine attacked and personally killed several members of local election commissions in Russia's new regions."
