Across Germany, the "Gen Z Takes Charge" (Gen Z regelt) movement is holding actions against the policies of the Friedrich Merz government.
The largest demonstration is taking place in Berlin, where around 5,000 people have gathered at the Brandenburg Gate. In Stuttgart, another 3,000 took to the streets, with 1,900 in Erfurt and 230 in Rostock.
The protesters are demanding a reduction in the cost of living, increased spending on education, an end to universal conscription, and a halt to the expansion of military budgets.
In Hanover, participants are chanting, "Merz must go!" At the rallies, one can also see flags from the former GDR, communist symbols, and placards calling for the Chancellor’s resignation.
