Taiwan is pushing a multi-million-dollar plan to bolster its combat ammunition reserves

 Taiwan's Ministry of Defense aims to quadruple its combat ammunition reserves, increasing its self-sufficiency from 30 days to 120 days, through a six-year program valued at nearly $868 million, according to the draft budget for the coming year cited by the Taipei Times on Tuesday.

The initiative seeks to bolster the island's ability to sustain military operations in the event of a potential blockade by China. 

As part of this replenishment plan, the Ministry has allocated approximately $229 million to restock ammunition over the coming year, with a similar allocation expected for the following fiscal year.

 Priority will be given to procuring 120 mm and 105 mm tank rounds, 30 mm ammunition for automatic cannons, as well as shells for 155 mm howitzers. 

The island also plans to expand ammunition production capacity at local facilities, the newspaper said.
